Flaming Lips Friday

It would appear that it is Flaming Lips Friday. On this day, several new Lips oriented musical adventures have been brought to my eyes & ears. I want to share them with you...

FIRST... and my favorite!

At all the tour stops on this previous Lips tour, the venue recorded the show & the audio was then emailed to each person that purchased a ticket. Well... today, on Flaming Lips Friday, I have the recording from the night that Georgette & I attended AND I have it uploaded so you can get it for free at link below. This was definitely one of my top ten shows on all time to attend. Thanks Georgette!

THE FLAMING LIPS LIVE
Ponoma, CA - 8.18.09

SECOND... If you would like to hear the newest Flaming Lips album for free! ColbertNation has it on the main page, top left. Streaming all eighteen tracks! Really amazing new songs.

THIRD... Colbert sat down and talked with Wayne, lead singer of The Flamings Lips, they had a good chat about one of their most prolific songs Do You Realize. The band goes on to play a great new song live.

Spread it Around - Cinematic Orchestra

*!*Please take a moment to push play on the video and just listen to the music while you read the post. Don't worry about watching at this time... the music will take you there.

Even though music overwhelms a large portion in my life, I find it hard to put the right words together into these things called 'sentences' to describe the harmonious noise that permeates the airwaves around us.

Here is a gem I just found. One of my favorite musical groups, The Cinematic Orchestra, performing an and amazing song. Guaranteed to be good background or enjoyed entirely. Please take a moment to listen. There is a link below to an entire hour of live music from this performance.

Explosions in the Sky | Live & In Person

The other night I was trying to remember who it was, or how it came to be that the Austin, Texas band Explosions in the Sky came to grace my ears... it was sometime in 2004 and I was living in northern California. Alas, I fell in love...

Flash forward to March of 2009 one afternoon, I see a notice that tickets go on sale in 10 minutes for their upcoming concert in Los Angeles.... PURCHASED IN THE OPENING MOMENTS.

Flash forward 3 more months as the tickets just sit on my shelf waiting to allow entree to an amazing evening of melodic noise that will be like no other.

Flash forward to you reading this post now....... this past weekend I got to finally attend the June 27th Explosions in the Sky concert at The Palladium with my girlfriend Georgette. It was everything and more... the sound was so full and powerful, the songs were magnificent & breathtaking, plus four very grateful bands members that appeared ecstatic to see a sold out crowd in a large venue. The music took over that night and will never be forgotten.
